Monster by Walter Dean Myers

MonsterMyers, W. (1999). Monster. New York: HarperCollins.
Monster is about  seventeen year old Steve Harmon.  He is awaiting  trial for a robbery/ murder of a drug store employee.  They are trying to see if he was involved or if he was even there.  They produced one witness but she did not like what she saw.  The state could not prove that Steve was even at the drugstore.  He had a love of movies and he made a movie of the trial.  The book is more like a movie script.  This could be a lesson in diversity and culture differences.  In today's society, it would be a good idea to understand cultural diversity.  It would be a good classroom discussion about social issues and racism.
