Douglas and Andy are best friends. They talk about everything. Except what happened three years ago at the Tuttle place. Andy seems to get blamed for everything, especially the bomb threat at school. When he is confronted, he rats out his best friend, Andy. They send him to the doctor who gets him to remember that Andy is dead. He died three years ago in a fire at the Tuttle place. Andy is so guilty about him dying, that he sets the house on fire, so he can join Andy. A lesson that can be learned from this book is that friendship is the best thing in the world. Friends will die for each other to retrieve what is important to the relationship.
