In the group is Alaska. She is moody and funny and independent. Miles falls for her and in one of her moods, she dies in a car accident. The group tries to figure out what happens to Alaska from the time she left the group and when she died. This is a realistic novel. Teachers could find this valuable for their classes to discuss friendship and honor and being there for each other.
